Question on X-Box as compared to other systems
If you don't use mouse/keyboard combo, then you 'll definitely run into problems (no pun intended.. heh). I really urge you to use this setup once for a 20-30 minute session in any 3D first person game... (Quake is best for this) keyboard for forward,backward,step left, step right (I use W,S,A,D.. in that order)

How is your keyboard set up?
It's the same keyboard combo I set-up for Marathon and Decent when I first got the respective games. My gaming buddies thought I was daft for using the mouse to turn but I knew putting my left hand on the asd keys and using the mouse to aim would work well. The more 3D the game is the better it works.

I grew up using the mouse, I don't know when I started, but I'm 15 now. My friends used to think the mouse sucked for 3d games... until they played me and lost in doom2 50 to -10. Then they realized what I had been telling them all along, mouse/keyboard combo kicks ass :)
