In today's news: "Quake is a far more complicated proposition than Doom -with true 3D environments and much trickier levels. I also have a Sidewinder game pad. Would this be better?

As far as UT and Q3, I have a PC w/cable modem and am a dedicated mouse/keyboard combo fragger. I really don't think I'll pick up the DC ports for those games. Dreamcast has a mouse and keyboard Phantasy Star Online, which is said to play like a 3D Dialblo 2 according to IGN, will be out next year also. Thanks!

Quake 3 - Initial Thoughts
And maybe surfing the net if you buy a $250 modem, mouse, and keyboard combo. Whereas with a early 1997 PC, you'll have integrated 3D PCI video, Direct3D game support in Win95, and the ability to do ANYTHING. Who buys a console expecting to do anything else but play games? In early '97, you'll be able to buy

Why? I think it would suck!
You're
stupid enough to admit to having limited experience with the 3D controller! I have both PC and N64, and I wouldn't mind having a N64 joypad for PC, and once I did see one for about 30 in EB. I didn't buy it because I was skint. However, I would not use it for Quake, I prefer the mouse and keyboard combo too

SpaceOrb or Wingman Warrior?
It breaks my heart to see so many complaints about the mech3 mouse/keyboard controls after seeing how much effort the development team has put into it. Including myself, I use the joystick instead of the mouse/keyboard combo, one: because I'm used to it due to activision's mech2, and two: because I can feel lasers

Screw the joystick, you've got to play the best way - mouse & keyboard combo. Use a 3 button mouse (Logitech Mouseman or First Mouse+ suggested) for movement and freelook, and keyboard for commands, etc. It's the only way to play 3d shooters. (Note, this is just my opinion. I' just can't imagine ruining a game like

I don't have one yet, but plan on buying one soon, as it seems ideally suited for 3D gaming. This probably has something to do with the fact I beleave them to be an inferior method of control for Quake then the old reliable mouse/keyboard combo. :) My box is one of those new "Sony PC"s.
